Module III: Embroidery as Diasporic Continuum With Richie Lopez of Duende Textiles
Embroidery as Diasporic Continuum invites participants into a hands-on exploration of embroidery as a vibrant, evolving tradition rooted in memory, migration, and cultural resistance. Blending techniques from Puerto Rico, Latin America, and other global lineages, this workshop offers space to learn foundational stitches while engaging embroidery as a vehicle for storytelling, identity, and collective healing.
Participants will contribute to a collaborative community art installation, drawing connections between personal practice and shared heritage.
Selected participants will also take part in the Artisano Salon, a two-day gathering of conversations with artists, curators, and cultural workers working at the intersections of art, culture, and community in Philadelphia.
